Allison Master, an assistant professor in the Department of Psychological, Health and Learning Sciences at the UH College of Education, has earned the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, the U.S. government鈥檚 highest honor of its kind.

鈥楢lways Remember You Are Braver Than You Believe鈥�

UH teaching alum Alexander 鈥淎lex鈥� Javier Hernandez reunited with professor Justin Burris, his former elementary school teacher. Burris helped Hernandez get on track with his grades so he could graduate and get a teaching job at the Alief campus where they first met. 鈥淎lex really put in the work to raise his GPA,鈥� Burris said.

Growing up on a remote farm, Sheng Kuan Chung faced low expectations in grade school. Thankfully, he said, he discovered art as an outlet. His work has drawn recognition from the National Art Education Association鈥檚 Asian Art and Culture Interest Group, which praised his innovative use of digital media.
