Olafs Daugulis
EXCELLENT FUNDING RECORD, RESEARCH CONTRIBUTIONS LEAD TO HIGH HONOR FOR OLAFS DAUGULIS
A year ago, Olafs Daugulis won a pair of prestigious awards for his research into simplifying the process of forming compounds that can be used in many everyday products, such as pharmaceuticals and plastics. This year, the assistant professor of chemistry, has been rewarded with the Excellence in Research and Scholarship Award for the assistant professor rank.
His nomination form highlights Daugulis鈥� 鈥渆xceptional research contributions and鈥mergence as a leader and innovator in the fields of organometallic chemistry and synthetic organic chemistry.鈥� His nominator goes on to write that Daugulis 鈥渉as distinguished himself both nationally and internationally as a highly insightful and remarkably creative young scientist.鈥�
A colleague from the University of Virginia who has followed Daugulis鈥� work closely stated Daugulis has been 鈥渜uite successful recruiting graduate students and postdoctoral researchers into his group鈥�.as well as providing opportunities for many undergraduate students.鈥� He further recognized Daugulis鈥� 鈥渆xcellent funding record鈥� and touted the young professor鈥檚 research program as being 鈥渁t the top tier of his peers in terms of productivity and creativity.鈥�
Three Awards for Excellence in Research and Scholarship are given each year to faculty who have achieved a substantial record of outstanding research, scholarship or creative activities in their field. Each award carries a $5,000 stipend and a plaque.
