EAS Geology Ph.D. Student Wins Top 10 Oral Presentation Award at 2017 AAPG Annual Convention

Oral Presentation Covered Tectonic Evolution of South Atlantic Rifted Margins

Kyle Reuber (Ph.D. 鈥17), a May Ph.D. graduate from 探花视频鈥檚 Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, won a Top Ten Oral Presentation Award at the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Annual Convention and Exhibition held in Houston, April 2-5, 2017.

Kyle ReuberThe Top 10 Oral Presentation Awards were selected by a panel of judges from over 400 oral presentations by both professionals and students at the meeting. Oral presentations were scored by the judges based on the overall quality of the talk, data and interpretations, and the responses of the presenter to questions posed by the judges.

Reuber鈥檚 presentation, entitled 鈥淎symmetrical Conjugate Margins of the South Atlantic: Effects of Variable Basement Architecture and Magmatic Additions on the Continental Rifting Process and Petroleum Systems,鈥 provided a summary of one chapter of his EAS Ph.D. dissertation that included his interpretation of deep seismic reflection imagery provided to the study by ION Geophysical.

American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG)Co-authors of the presentation included Dr. Paul Mann, Reuber鈥檚 Ph.D. supervisor at UH, and Dr. Jim Pindell, Reuber鈥檚 co-worker at ION Geophysical.

Reuber worked full-time with ION as a Ph.D. student and completed his Ph.D. in May 2017. He is currently a full-time employee at ION.
